HEADQUARTERS OF BELARUSIAN POPULAR FRONT PARTY
Belarusian Popular Front (BPF) is the oldest opposition political force, which played a crucial role in securing independence for Belarus in 1991. BPF Party - one of two parties into which the original BPF split - now is not as popular as in early 1990s, yet its office remains a traditional venue for events organized by various opposition parties, movements and dissidents. Handouts, newsletters, national symbols, Belarusian music and films are up for grabs in the office.
For many years, the BPF headquarters was located closer to the city center, near Pieramohi (Victory) Square. However, Minsk authorities unilaterally terminated the rental contract in 2011, thus forcing the party to look for new premises.
