Back to USSR
To those who are looking for things that are reminiscent of the Soviet Union, Minsk seems to come up as a perfect attraction. For many travellers from Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Estonia and even Poland or Czech Republic, Minsk brings back half-forgotten images from their socialist childhood when children waved red flags and marched around on national holidays. At the same time, Minskers are not necessarily very excited by the Communist décor of their daily routines and may try to keep their foreign guests far away from the ugly masterpieces of Soviet urban planning. Arguably, they shouldn’t have.
Regardless of our personal architectural tastes, our intention is to give you a candid insight into the Soviet-legacy streets and quarters in Minsk.
